Just a short and logistical update for you all today. Gone are the days of “West Bluff Food Forest” and with it, the domain westbluff.substack.com.
By now, you surely know I sold the cabin and have moved to New Hampshire. I’m happy to finally reveal a new name and a refined purpose here at monadnock.substack.com.
The name is from The Monadnock Region of New Hampshire, where we now live. The Monadnock region is the collection of small towns, some rural counties and dirt roads surrounding a single mountain: Mt. Monadnock.
It’s the only mountain in the skyline, so it defines this region of southwestern New Hampshire. The word monadnock is derived from an Abenaki word used to describe a "mountain that stands alone.”
While my writing has been focused on the cabin project until now, I’m going to start to write more broadly about our life rooted in this place. This is the region my wife is from. It’s only a few hours from the town of my entire extended family in New York.
Potential subjects include local farms and food, foraging, home gardening, hikes, hunting, bikepacking and whatever else inspires me.
I hope you’ll stick around.
We love to read about you living your dream! Best to you and Sarah as you explore and enjoy your life together! Thanks for being the bestest friend to our B.
